Cash 4 Scraps

People face trash problem everyday. We try to segregate but the segregated trash end up in the same pile of waste. We only wish we could help do the third R (recycle) in the well-known 3R of solid waste management but we either have no time, or, we have no space, or, we are not encouraged at all. In Cash 4 Trash, we organize waste pickers, we engage households and commercial establishments in segregating and recycling by being partners. Yes! Partners!

Who faces this problem?

Everyone. From household to commercial establishments to schools, government and private offices.

How does your idea address this problem?

We close the gap in waste management, specifically, providing manpower (organizing informal stakeholders- through a cooperative of waste pickers), providing a more viable system in recyclable waste collection through the cooperative, from the source to the collectors to buyers. The cooperative will also provide a means of sustainable livelihood, while being able to help the goverment and the proposed partners (source of recyclable wastes). By being partners with the waste generators, we promote awareness, behavioral change and create active players. As partners with LGUs, we provide them a means of compliance to the requirements pf the RA 9003 (Solid Waste Management Act)

What’s new and unique about your idea?

It's profitable. Partner generators will earn from the income of the cooperative and at the same time, the cooperative will be able to provide decent snd sustainable  livelihood to the waste pickers.

It hits more than two birds with one stone. Waste management, livelihood, social change, Public-Private Partnership, a big scale profitable replication of best practices in schools and communities.
